Client – Honda Manufacturing of Alabama, LLC’s facility in Lincoln, Alabama has the capacity to build more than 300,000 Odyssey minivans, Honda Pilot sport utility vehicles, and V-6 engines annually. This facility is Honda's largest light truck production source.

Rainsville Technology, Inc. is an injected molded plastic parts supplier for Honda Manufacturing of Alabama, LLC. The company supplies interior and plastic components for the Honda Odyssey minivan, operating a 126,000 square-foot manufacturing plant in Rainsville, Alabama.

Problem – Honda Manufacturing of Alabama, LLC needed a customized packaging solution in order to ship the front lower grille SHJX automotive component. The company turned to RPR to create a custom packaging system using the original rack footprint with a higher density and another custom system for use inside a pallet box/container, again within the same footprint and with increased density. 
 
RPR Solution – RPR provided a “smarter” solution by customizing a textile bag rack system that doubled the density from 30 parts per rack to 60 parts using the original rack footprint. According to Honda Manufacturing of Alabama, LLC no other company or competitor was able to achieve this density while maintaining the original rack footprint.
 
The innovative custom packaging system saved a considerable amount of resources and money for Honda Manufacturing of Alabama, LLC and Rainsville Technology, Inc. Honda Manufacturing of Alabama, LLC reduced the number of trucks needed to ship the parts and the number of racks used for housing/handling the operation and shipment of these parts.

The second customized solution for the pallet box/container called for a double density textile bag used in the original footprint that now held 30 parts per rack instead of 15 parts. Honda Manufacturing of Alabama, LLC used this cost-effective and efficient packaging solution system for three additional automotive parts.
